PhD studentship on Parallel programming for Computational Fluid Dynamic at the University of Parma

A fully-funded 3 year PhD studentship is available for research on Parallel programming for Computational Fluid Dynamic. The PhD project will use a GPU-enhanced code (developed at the University of Parma) which integrates the Shallow Water Equations for floods simulations. The aim of the present studenship is to further develop the code in order to exploit the computational capabilities of modern heterogeneous architectures, such as multiple Graphic Processing Units (multi-GPU). The candidate should have a strong scientific programming background, including knowledge of common data structures and algorithms. Some expertise in parallel programming (CUDA framework and/or MPI) is desirable.

The studentship is partially funded in the framework of the SIR project RBSI14R1GP with title “FLOOD risk management based on PARallel numerical simulations”

To have an informal discussion about this studentship, feel free to contact Dr. Renato Vacondio (renato.vacondio@unipr.it) and/or Prof. Alessandro Dal Palù (alessandro.dalpalu@unipr.it)
