Professional Biography

Marco graduated in Civil Engineering (Hydraulic address) at the University of Parma in 2005. He obtained his PhD in Civil Engineering with the curriculum "Hydraulic Protection of the Territory" at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Parma in 2010 with a thesis entitled "Characterization of aquifer hydraulic parameters: from Theis to hydraulic tomography ". During the PhD period he was Short Term Scholar (April-October 2009) at USGS Wisconsin Water Science Center, Madison, WI, USA dealing with the "Development and application of Bayesian inverse methods, in particular applied to hydraulic tomography". Since 2009 he has been an adjunct professor of the "Hydraulic Measurements and Controls Laboratory" teaching for the degree courses in Civil Engineering and Engineering for the Environment and Territory at the University of Parma. He deals with mathematical modeling of aquifers, aqueduct networks, sewer networks, propagation of flood waves in a hydraulic network and hydrological modeling of basins. The main research activity concerns the solution of inverse problems in surface and underground hydrology through the use of Bayesian approaches.
